There will never be a dull moment, while visiting Virginia Beach with the many fun activities both in the area, and within a short driving distance. Historical landmarks, museums, amusement parks, sports games, and more will make your vacation fun, action packed, and extremely memorable. Can't stay away from the water? Ocean Breeze Waterpark is the perfect choice. Located in Virginia Beach, everyone is sure to have a good time. Try the different slides or relax in the wave-pool; whatever you prefer you'll stay cool. If strolling down the famous, three-mile Boardwalk of Virginia Beach, stop in the Old Coast Guard Station to learn about the fascinating shipwrecks that happened off the Atlantic coast. View the artifacts and photos of the U.S. Life-Saving and Coast Guard Services in the museum's expansive collection. Enjoying the maritime history? You should not miss the Cape Henry Lighthouses, towering over the entrance to the Chesapeake Bay, one being the oldest government-built lighthouse in the U.S., while the other being the tallest cast-iron lighthouse in America.
Virginia Beach Events, Entertainment & Things For Kids
The Contemporary Arts Center of Virginia features national and world-known artists, while also providing interaction with entertainment and arts programs. The Children's Museum of Virginia and Nauticus are two museums your children will be eager to visit. See the wonders of the night sky in the planetarium, watch the toy trains, or enter a giant computer at the Children's Museum. For a hands-on science experience about the sea, Nauticus is the place to go. Busch Gardens is definitely worth the hour drive. Enjoy the thrills of the amusement park on some of the world's greatest roller coasters. Since the park is located in Williamsburg, tour the re-created 18th century town as well. Take it back another century and visit Jamestown to get a feel for life in the 1600s. Get a guided tour or wander at your own pace, viewing the films, living exhibits, and galleries. As one of the first U.S. settlements, the exhibits at Jamestown will show you how our country all began. "Take me out to the ball game" and cheer on the Norfolk Tides at Harbor Park, the local, recently updated, state-of-the-art baseball stadium. Get tickets and watch from the stands, watch from Hits at the Park, a restaurant overlooking the entire playing field, or cookout in the picnic area overlooking left field. There are so many places to go in, and around Virginia Beach. A boring day is not something you should expect to find here. Come prepared to be constantly busy, and to experience fun-filled activities everyone in the family will enjoy.
